HHS Media

Maya Waid
Maya Waid is a junior at Harrisonburg High School and is the Sports Editor in Chief for the Newsstreak. This is her third year being on staff and her first as an Editor in Chief. Maya plays varsity volleyball and varsity basketball at HHS in addition to being a member of HOSA, Governor’s STEM Academy and the Quill and Scroll Honors Society. Outside of school, Maya enjoys spending her time with her sister Macy, her friends and her family. Over quarantine, Maya has gotten really into working out and lifting. Maya loves to travel outside of the country and explore new places and experience different cultures. When Maya can’t be found with her friends or traveling, you can find her in her cozy new room binge watching the next Netflix show on her list. On Maya’s most recent trip out of the country, she discovered that Venice, Italy, is her favorite place to be and that gelato is a treat that you can never have enough of. For the most part, Maya should not be trusted in the kitchen; although, she can make a delicious grilled cheese. Waking up at any time before 10 a.m. is not always easy for Maya, but she manages her time well between school, sports and work. In the future, Maya plans to pursue a career in the medical field and has high hopes for what colleges she wants to be accepted to.
