On October 31 JROTC cadets were outside practicing drill movements during class. They focused on commands like “Right March,” “Left Flank,” “Column Right,” and “Column Left,” trying to stay in sync as a unit.
“I enjoy being in commands – drill is fun, and it helps teach discipline,” sophomore cadet Dorian Jackson said.
These ongoing practices help strengthen teamwork. Sergeant first class Matt Enderle thinks that leadership is important in drill but the cadets also have to care.
“I also think that there was a desire to actually learn drill, which is important when we’re doing it, because if people don’t want to be there and do it, it makes it really hard,” Enderle said.
Junior Taño Munguia likes drill because of the connection with others.
“I guess, for me personally, I like to work with people, be in contact with people, and like get to know people,” Munguia said.
