The Turner Ashby Knights defeated the Harrisonburg Blue Streaks 75-43 in a girls varsity basketball game on Dec. 15, Tuesday night. The game was all Knights from the beginning, as Turner Ashby jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first quarter. TA senior Kaleigh Roadcap lead all scorers with 21 points, and Hope Simmons added 15 points for the Knights.

On the Harrisonburg side, sophomore Constance Komara led with 15 points and added 13 rebounds, compiling a double-double. Junior Kendall Thompson added 11 for the Blue Streaks.

Throughout the game, Turner Ashby worked the ball around the perimeter, with most of their possessions ending in baskets, especially early on. The defending state champion Knights used a lot of screens to work the ball into the paint and convert inside shot attempts. Harrisonburg’s guards totaled just two points against the TA perimeter defense, as senior Soma Barzanji and sophomore Marissa Madden combined for just one basket in the contest. Harrisonburg falls to 0-3 with the loss.
