The Newsstreak staff headed to South Carolina this weekend for the annual Southern Interscholastic Press Association conference. Writers and editors were given the chance to take part in various workshops. Other activities included a dance and banquet. On Sunday the Newsstreak received several awards for the following:

Garrett Thompson: Honorable Mention – Newspaper Entertainment Page, Best in Show – Feature Page

Julexus Cappell: Award of Merit – Newspaper Op/Ed page

Victoria Giron: Best of Show – Newspaper Op/Ed page

Ariel Vogel: Second Place – Sports Story

Best in Virginia – Newspaper Division
