Running with the Wolves will be the second to last meet that the Harrisonburg Cross Country will run this season, and for a lot of runners it is the best meet. Chris Hyser, one of the senior team captains, thought that this meet was very fun.

“My favorite part is the start, because it is different,” Hyser said. The start is unusual in a few unique ways. First of the music starts up dramatically while a guy holding a flag slowly walks out to the center of a field while raising a flag. When the person holding the flag got out to the center, he held the flag above his head, and the music sped up. Then the flag was dropped and the race started. Nathan Wood, a Junior, agreed.

“The start was very fun, and this is probably my favorite course,” Wood said, “It is hard because of the hills, but is a nice course.” It wasn’t too hard, considering that he finished with a time of 19:06. The runners of this course enjoy it and some would think that a coach would agree. In this case they would be correct. Lauren Jefferson, the boys cross country coach, enjoys it as well.

“I like it because it is a good course any time of the year, and because it isn’t unusually difficult,” Jefferson said. That statement agrees with what Wood, and Hyser said.

The team results were Varsity finishing 8th out of 18, and JV finishing 10th out of 15.

“We finished like I expected,” Jefferson said, when asked about the final results. Overall, Running with the Wolves went well.
