This weekend, on October 5th, the Harrisonburg High School Marching Band competed at Midlothian High School. After several setbacks, including one of the buses breaking down, the marching band came out 2nd place in their class. The band also received second in marching and music. Senior Drum Major Ellen Upton received second place drum major in AA.

After the performance, Upton came off the field with confidence.

“I felt like it was our best show so far in competition. There are always things to improve on, but it was a great product,” Upton said.

The performance allowed for a large amount of beneficial information as there were judges for many different areas including marching, music, drum major, and an auxiliary judge. The band is still continuing to work consistently on their show, taking all the advice into account to improve the overall effect of their theme “Falling Apart.”
