The yearbook signing was held on Friday Sept. 15 in the school auditorium. This event allowed all the seniors to get together and sign their yearbooks. With expectations of seeing the ‘normal high school yearbook signing scene’, where friends hang out around each other and describe in writing how they had a great year and “you’re an amazing friend”, or even “have a great summer”, this yearbook signing was one of the most emotional and best to date.
Although the main objective of the event was for students to have their yearbooks signed, the lip dub created by the whole student body at the end of the 2011-2012 school year was the star of the show. The lip dub was made in honor of Ricky Valencia-Rocca, who passed away in a tragic car accident last year.
“It made me really happy to see all the memories of last year. Making the lip dub was really good because everyone came together and we are all closer now,” senior Heather Graham said.
After the lip dup was over, food such as cupcakes, popcorn and drinks were provided. The students were then allowed to hang out and have their yearbooks signed until the school day was over.
Even though it was a yearbook signing, not a lot of students actually participated.
“No one really signed the yearbooks and everyone were just chilling,” senior Dryden Labarge said.
Having a yearbook signing does help the students bond and get together, but at the same time, it also is a disadvantage; seniors will not be able to get their senior year yearbook signed by their friends.
“It will be really sad because I won’t see half the people here after I get my yearbook next year,” Graham said.
