Senior Rachael Wilcox has been writing books since her poetry unit in sixth grade. She’s written and published two books entitled “Rain” and “My Lovely CEO.” It takes Wilcox about six weeks to write her books.

“I started writing after my poetry unit in sixth grade. At first I only wrote poetry, then I wanted to explore something else,” Wilcox said.

Wilcox gets her inspiration from books she’s read in the past. She enjoys reading and writing about romance and thrillers.

“After I read a good book I usually get good inspiration to get enough to change it to my own,” Wilcox said.

The process of Wilcox writing a book is fairly simple. She begins with the characters, moves onto the plot and finally adds more small details.

“I come up with the characters and  their dynamics and then develop the plot, write the chapters, make sure everything is flowing seamlessly and make sure you have enough detail, but not too much that you bore the reader,” Wilcox said.

Wilcox then publishes her books on an online platform where anybody can read her stories.

“[I publish my stories on] WattPad. Anyone can publish on Wattpad, but once you get enough reads you can get paid,” Wilcox said.
