What makes Benny Sorrentino’s special? Is it their creamy tomato sauce? Is it their gooey, rich cheese? Is it the box drawn on the wall of the men’s bathroom that says “Tally if you’re stoned?” No. What makes Benny’s special is the size of their pizza, a pizza so large that it takes multiple fully grown men to maneuver it through a door.

It’s not a classy establishment. It’s clean and the decor is nice, but it’s geared primarily towards hipsters, young adults and some combination thereof. While not overly impressed with the crowds that appear on a Friday night, I was more than pleased to see the prize I would take home: a pizza worthy of Goliath.

After wrestling it through the door of my house, my family paused to admire its glory and girth. Splayed across our entire kitchen counter was a fantastic tasting and smelling pizza that we all enjoyed.

But that’s not what makes it special.

What makes it special is that it screams community. You can’t eat a pizza that big alone (if you can, Benny’s offers a cash prize for doing so in an allotted time). This means that you need people to eat it with. You need friends and family to help you tackle the monstrosity that lay before you. This pizza is special because it brings people together. And what’s more important than family?
