Prediction: Seahawks defense will win them the Super Bowl
February 1, 2014
Every year, two of the best teams in football square off in one of the biggest stages in sports, the Super Bowl. This year the two teams are the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos. The last time that these two teams faced off in the play-offs was in 1983, which ended in a victory for the Seahawks.
I predict that Seahawks will come out of the Super Bowl with a strong win. Their defense is unstoppable, which will play a big role in their victory. With the best pass defense and overall defense, the Broncos’ Peyton Manning will struggle to put any points on the scoreboard. Richard Sherman has given the Seahawks many interceptions as their star cornerback. This will give them great field position and shut down the Denver offense. Their safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor have 143 solo tackles combined, and have assisted in many more tackles besides those. Their Defense has a combined 84 blocked passes which is close to 30 more blocks than have happened to them. This allows them to not let the other team score near as much.
Russell Wilson, their quarterback, isn’t bad either, despite them having one of the worst passing teams in the NFL; he has a strong run game, and works very well with the play-action. The Seahawks also have very good receivers to pass to including Golden Tate who leads the team in receiving yards. Their running back Marshawn Lynch has a total of 1,257 running yards, which is one of the best in the NFL.
Denver, on the other hand, has one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Only five teams gave more passing yards than Denver did. Their running game is also mediocre at best, and even though Denver has the best offense in the NFL Seattle’s top-rated defense will shut them down.
The Denver Broncos will come into the Super Bowl with their hopes high, but will ultimately get shut down. Seattle will come out on top.
