Review: Revolution starts off season with strong hook

Danny Dombrowski, Staff Reporter

RevolutionRevolution’s first season aired on the 17th of September 2012. One day all electricity around the world is turned off.  Like a flick of the switch, planes begin falling out of the sky and all communication is crumbled. The show picks up 15 years later and life as we know it is over. People have returned to the dark ages using candles and fire for light. Season two, which aired September 18th, started with the power being restored but not for long. The former pre-blackout Google genius Aaron, actor Zak Orth, can’t cancel a computer program to stop the power from going back out. This also causes two nuclear missiles to be shot at major cities. The explosion and fallout foreshadows future problems to arise later on in the season. When people are forced out by the fallout, they start forming makeshift towns by the water. Halfway through the episode a ship approaching the land catches many onlookers attention. The ship is full of American government people who give a speech on rebuilding the US after all the years that have passed. Tom Neville, played by Giancarlo Esposito, considers these so called Americans, enemies right off the bat, and blames them for his wife’s death from the missiles.

All and all, I think the season started off pretty strong by hooking viewers with questions that need answers. Billy Burke who plays Miles Matheson adds his incredible acting experience and talent. It is definitely worth a try and I will definitely be tuning in again. For anyone that is interested, the show comes on Wednesdays on NBC at eight p.m. EST.
