While on Spring Break, I went to see the new movie Spring Breakers. I had heard a lot of mumbling about it, but nobody could really tell me what it was about. The big draw was the fact that it starred Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Selena Gomez. That alone gives you three very attractive Disney and ABC Family teen stars in a film rated R. If that isn’t enough to pique your interest, you’re a brick wall. No one I knew who had seen it had checked to see what it was about beforehand, myself included. You could say we were all in for a shock.
Spring Breakers basically highlighted the trapped feeling a small town can give its inhabitants, the freedom of Spring Break, and the fact that some girls have no conscience whatsoever. If you want your childhood or view of television’s sweethearts to stay the same, unaltered, pristine… I would recommend that you most certainly do not see this movie. If you want to see partying at a beach, every illicit activity you can think of, and the girls of teen television participating in those activities, then by all means, Spring Breakers is the movie for you. Most of the movie consisted of me in theatre asking myself, What am I watching? and I paid $10.50 for this?
I wouldn’t recommend going to see Spring Breakers in theatres. I know that young stars are always trying to break the mold they put themselves in after being in teenage shows, but this might devastate your opinion of these three young ladies. The one star that might keep her good girl reputation is the lovely Selena Gomez, but for the other two, that ship has sailed. One of the oddest things about the movie was the fact that four girls went on Spring Break, but who was the fourth? We had three big name stars, and their friend who I had never before seen on TV. It felt very random, and was one of those things that just bugged me throughout the hour and a half. Now, if it comes OnDemand, is on Netflix, pops up on your Red Box screen, I’d say it’s worth seeing. A couple bucks to shake your sense of reality and your preconceptions of who’s who in Hollywood is entertaining to say the least. *spoiler alert* Just be prepared to have the movie end with Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson shooting up everyone you thought was essential to the movie. If you can face that, than you can stand up to the challenge of this gruesome and racy film.

I like how you asked yourself, “Is this worth spending $10.50?” i kind of what to see the movie, but then again i don’t know if i’m willing to spend $10 to see an ‘okay’ movie. Good opinion story though.-Ana Hunter
