It’s a much better idea to just be happy. A snowless snowday is like staying home from school sick without being sick- all the benefits of staying home without actually having to deal with being snowed in. Shouldn’t we just be happy that we have an extra few hours to sleep in? Shouldn’t we be glad that we get to take a break for once?

The administration should adopt this same zen attitude. Instead of scrambling to make up days now, we could just wait and use the days that are, you know, built into the calendar just for this purpose. Going a few extra days in June won’t hurt anybody. June is when everything is winding down and the end is just around the corner.

However, taking all our days off in February and March is quite different. The depths of February is when we most need a break – the year has gone on long enough for the daily routine to feel agonizingly monotonous, but summer vacation feels years away. This is the time to take advantage of all this “snow” that’s been plaguing us.

So let’s just be grateful our school has been suffering from weather confusion lately, and stop complaining when we really should be celebrating.
