TV Show Review: NBCs Deception

Deception has a nice mix of family drama and murder.

Deception is NBC’s new hit TV show about a famous socialite, Vivien Bowers who apparently ‘overdosed’ at a motel. That’s not how the FBI sees it. They think she was murdered from inside the family, so they send in Vivien’s old best friend Joanna undercover. Joanna will be faced with challenges from dealing with Vivien’s family to trying not to raise suspicion on herself. Not only that, but there’s a little bit of a love triangle in the show. She has to deal with her feelings with her old boyfriend, Julian. and her sort-of boyfriend slash FBI agent, Will Moreno.

Throughout the series, you see flashbacks to leading up to Vivien’s death, from seeing that Vivien and Julian got into a fight right before she died, to why she and Joanna stopped being friends. Who really killed Vivien Bowers?

At first I thought this TV series was not going to be really popular because it’s about the murder of one person, and you could only go so far with it. I wanted to watch it because it just looked so cool and mysterious. After I saw the pilot, I was hooked! Soon, I was waiting for more episodes to air and I couldn’t wait to watch.

I found that when I was watching the episodes I really wanted to know who killed Vivien. When they give you a clue hinting at who might have done it, the show takes you in another direction and shows you another clue leading you in the completely opposite direction.

This show is probably one of my favorites so far on NBC! I give this show 3.5 out of 5 stars because, although it’s in my top five shows to watch, it’s not number one.

Tune into Deception every Monday on NBC at 10 p.m.
