The Twin Towers have been hit. The Twin Towers have fallen. The Pentagon has been hit. A 747 crashed into a field in Pennsylvania they are no survivors. Do you remember these words on 9/11/2001? What about these words on May 2nd 2011? Osama Bin Laden is dead. How did you feel?
Zero Dark Thirty is a movie based on the events of finding and killing Bin Laden. The movie writers met with government officials to make the movie as accurate as possible. It has gotten great reviews, but complaints due to the little to no action in the movie.
The movie itself follows a young female CIA agent as she goes from country to country trying to find information of Osama’s location. The movie starts with footage and an audio of 911 calls on the day of 9/11/2001. The calls are from people trapped on the floors above, and the floor actual floor, where one of the planes hit one the Twin Towers. From there, the movie goes to an undisclosed location where CIA agents are holding an AL Qaeda leader. Waterboarding is used to try to get answers in this scene and others. There are also different techniques of enhanced interrogation used throughout the movie.
“My favorite part [of the movie] was getting to see the whole process behind the news,” senior Emma Peifer said.
Overall, I liked the movie and I would recommend it that every American go see it. After watching it you feel a rush of what it is to be an American. How a country can come from the rubble and take down the person who killed 3,400 Americans in one day is inspiring.
