Opinion: “Take Me Home” is sure to please

“Take Me Home” is just as good, if not better, than One Direction’s first album.
Hit British-Irish boy band, One Direction, hits the top of the charts again with the release of their new album, “Take Me Home,” which was released this past Tuesday. Compared to their previous, record breaking album, “Up All Night,” the new album has more mature lyrics and a heavier beat to it. Band members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik wanted their music to grow with them and their listeners, but to still be similar to the music that was published on their first album.

I would describe the album as 45 minutes of pure bliss. I couldn’t wait to break the plastic seal around the case and pop the CD into my DVD player. The instant that I heard the first track, “Live While We’re Young,” flow through the speakers, I cranked up the volume as fast as I could. Each song was different than the previous, which made the album a little different than “Up All Night.” After going all “fan-girl” for 45 minutes, the album was over. Well, the first thing that I wanted to do was to play it again and try to start learning the lyrics, but I decided not to. I decided to wait until the next day to make hearing it again just as amazing as the first time.

“Take Me Home” features two of One Direction’s new singles, “Live While We’re Young” and “Little Things.” “LWWY” is the perfect song to play when you’re down; it makes you want to jump around and just enjoy life. “Little Things” opened a new door for the hit boy band. Written by artist Ed Sheeran, “Little Things” is a ballad that focuses on the “little things” that make someone special and unique. The lyrics show how every girl doesn’t need to be extremely skinny, or wear makeup to be beautiful. The message that One Direction sends to their listeners is very uplifting and has such a positive influence on teens’ lives.

Out of all 13 songs on the standard edition of the album, one of my personal favorites would be “They Don’t Know About Us”. The soft piano melody in the beginning is soothing to the ears and the meaning behind the lyrics is very powerful. Each member’s unique voice is featured in a solo that helps lead in to the chorus. In multiple ways, the song coincides with my own life experiences, which makes it even more meaningful and powerful.

Yes, I love One Direction because a) they’re an attractive group of amazing singers and b) the success in their lives is very inspiring, but I also love the messages their songs hold. I’m able to connect pieces of my life to snippets of their songs and learn a message or two on how to deal with problems that I might have.

“Take Me Home” exceeded my expectations. I was worried that I would start to over-compare it to their first album, but “Take Me Home” stands out on its own without being too disconnected from “Up All Night.” One Direction will continue to melt the hearts of fans, including myself, all around the world.
