Malcolm James McCormick, or Mac Miller, a self-taught Pennsylvanian musician taught himself to play the piano, guitar, drums, and bass all at age 6. Malcolm jump-started his career in early 2010 when he signed with Rostrum Records. Blue Slide Park was released November 8th, 2011 containing several hits including “Party on Fifth Ave”, “Missed Calls” and “Smile Back”. I am personally a huge fan of Mac Miller, previously known as Easy Mac. Although some of his songs are borderline inappropriate, they have a pleasurable beat to them that automatically makes you nod your head to the tune in agreement. Mac recently collaborated with Schoolboy Q in making PlaneCarBoat. I was extremely excited for the new release and listened to the new soon-to-be hit when it was released on September 6th. Instead of my ears enjoying his unique voice and beat I heard relentless lines of nothing but the words plane, car, and boat. Those three words are said approximately 24 times throughout a 3-minute song, making it very repetitive and slightly annoying. As much as I truly love Mac Miller, I am highly disappointed in his recent performance. I hope in the future Mac continues to create masterpieces, anything is better than PlaneCarBoat.

It’s nice to know that I trained my apprentice well
