This summer when we were enjoying the beach and the pools, Democrats in D.C. were attacking Mitt Romney. That is to be expected since he is the GOP nomination for president, but what they were attacking him on was not an issue of national defense, healthcare or the economy. The big hot topic issue were his tax returns and offshore bank accounts. Really, are you kidding me?
If they have that much time on their hands to talk about his tax returns, then what are they getting done up in D.C? Leading the charge were Debbie Wasserman Schultz (DNC Chairwomen), Nancy Pelosi (House Minority Leader), Harry Reid (Senate Majority Leader) and President Obama. They kept attacking him saying he is an outsourcer, he didn’t pay taxes and he avoided taxes by having offshore bank accounts. Well he did have offshore bank accounts, but they were in a blind trust. He really didn’t have control over it. What Mrs. Pelosi and Mrs. Wasserman Schultz forgot to mention was that they too have offshore bank accounts. Wow, hypocritical and now since the news is out they have had offshore bank accounts they have backed off the charge.
This summer President Obama has released TV commercials painting Romney as an outsourcer because of his work at Bain capital. Well Mr. President, where did those green energy companies go after they got money from your stimulus funding? Well there is only one place to go. This place now imports the majority of all the goods that come to the US, China. Anyone else see the hypocrisy?
Well in the late summer Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that someone at Bain Capital told him Mr. Romney hasn’t paid taxes in the past ten years. Also, Harry Reid demanded to see the tax returns to prove that he did pay taxes because he hadn’t, according to the source. Well Mr. Reid where are your tax returns? How about you show your taxes returns before you demand to see someone else’s.
When I talked to students around the school about what happened this summer I asked the pollsters a question. I asked what issue would you like our elected officials in Washington D.C. to discuss? One hundred percent said getting the national debt under control and not Mitt Romney’s tax returns.
