Opinion: The Woman in Black

After I got over my post-Harry Potter depression I searched up what else Daniel Radcliffe was working on. When I found out that he was filming a horror movie called “The Women in Black” I got excited. I watched the preview and decided then that I would go see it once it comes out.

The Women in Black is about a widowed lawyer named Arthur Kipps who travels to a town where he has to sort out a woman’s things who has passed. While doing his work, he realizes that the house was owned by a woman who lost custody of her child because she was insane. He later realizes after a series of events that the house is haunted by the woman, and she kills children because she was still angry that her son got taken away.

On the way to the movie theater I prepared myself to try my best not to jump and embarrass myself in front of whoever I was sitting next to aka my boyfriend. The Woman in Black was rated PG-13 which means that middle schoolers were unfortunately allowed in. And they all seemed to sit around where we were sitting. Throughout the movie they were talking and telling Daniel Radcliffe to not go into rooms as if he could hear them in their heavy country accents.

Besides the constant noise from the peanut gallery, the movie was alright. Although most of the scary parts were repetitive throughout the movie. It is a little confusing and slow at the beginning of the movie, but it starts to build up and get exciting in the middle of the movie. There are strange twists and turns to keep you interested in it, too.

It is a pretty well done movie, and I was glad to see that Daniel Radcliffe was different than the way he acted in Harry Potter.
