Clowns have gone too far

“Clowns.’’ The more you stare at that never-ending smile, the more it warps into something more disturbing . Clowns are supposedly figures of innocent fun, brightly colored jesters to entertain children. They slip on a banana peel in exaggerated displays of slapstick comedy. But lately, clowns have taken on a whole new meaning. Clowns nowadays are not seen as friendly or entertaining. Now all people see when they think of clowns is their white painted face, a creepy red around their lips, red all on their nose, black all on their eyes and eyebrows and the nasty red wig they wear. There is no skin shown.

Not only are clowns getting a bad reputation for this Halloween, but stores such as Target stopped selling everything clown. Target has taken clown costumes and clown masks out of 1,800 stores including their online shopping site. The retailer from Target has said, “I know we will lose money so close to Halloween, but the decision was made out of the sensitivity for the public. Too many bad things have taken place because of the creepy clown craze. Target doesn’t want to contribute to the pranks by selling any clown related item.”

Target is not the only place respecting the public about the clown craze. Mcdonald’s well known mascot Ronald Mcdonald has been laying low ever since the crazy clown craze has occurred. He will continue to lay low until the crazy clown craze stops.

I believe that what Target has done, even though they knew they would lose money especially since Halloween is right around the corner, is extremely respectfully towards the public. Since clowns were known as a fear before this incident, individuals acting out in this way make them more of a threat to our generation’s youth.
