French teacher Sally Young visited the Congo while she was in college. She was able to learn more about the Congo’s culture with this trip. “One of my most precious memories is when, during college at the University of Arkansas, I took off a semester to spend in the Congo under the auspices of the Youth in Mission from my church.  Because I could speak French, I got to know the group of Bible translators and even learned a bit of Lingala, the language spoken in Kinshasa, and so I could communicate a wee bit with Lingala which helped me even more understand the culture of these marvelous folks. Imagine my surprise when, at Harrisonburg High School, I have had countless opportunities to meet a new student from the Congo,” Young said.
