Review: The Following

Review: The Following

The Following is a drug and I need it. This dark, gut wrenching series now has more plot twists than ever before along with Kevin Bacon and James Purefoys phenomenal acting. It also bring back a few familiar faces from the first season including everyone’s beloved Shawn Ashmore.

The first season ended with the death of Ryan Hardy’s (Kevin Bacon)  girlfriend Claire Matthews (Natalie Zea) while Ryan just helplessly watched her die. Ryan Hardy has once again come across Joe Carroll’s (James Purefoy) vicious cult, this time wanting to “resurrect” Joe Carroll. Wanting to bring Joe Carroll out of hiding they begin to murder massive amounts of people to get his attention and “resurrect” him. Ryan Hardy begins shows a nasty side of himself as he chases down the cult members this time around not allowing any slip ups this time around.

It’s appealing because you really get to see just how much Ryan has changed as a person and how his intentions are beginning to change as the show progresses. I really like this show because of the dark and sinister vibe it gives off also showing just how sick and twisted people can be. Never the less it also scares me that everyone Ryan Hardy trusts usually ends up being part of the cult. This show is just plain old nasty. I’ve seen four episodes and have to watch more, I can’t wait until next weeks hit.
