Online Editor-in-Chief receives CSPA Gold Circle Award

Newsstreak’s own Luke Gibson is now a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Circle Award winner for his Opinion Story: Tipping is an art. The CSPA grants its Gold Circle Award to its members who show that they have excelled in 204 different categories of journalistic writing.

Established in 1952,  the association combines students and faculty from all walks of life, college publications to public school yearbooks and digital media, to produce magazines, newspapers, digital media and newspapers. The Gold Circle Award was first given out in 1984, and now, in the past few years, it has given out 1,200 awards to over 15,000 applicants. This year 4,000 plus students entered the contest; of those, about 800 recieved first, second, third or a certificate of merit.

Gibson’s piece Tipping is an art earned him a certificate of merit.
