The HHS Band and Choir held a concert on November 14, with phenomenal performances by the symphonic brass ensemble, symphonic saxophone quartet, concert band, jazz ensemble, and many more. After school and before the concert, some band members were practicing. One student, junior Carlos Lopez, who plays both saxophone and clarinet has been in band since eighth grade.
“I’m pretty excited. I’m excited to be able to play different types of music with different ensembles. It’s something cool that we do every year,” said Lopez
That excitement is reflected in the performance. Each member did their best.
“I feel like I did pretty good,” states Lopez. “It was a pretty smooth concert.”
This is Lopez’s favorite concert, and the last piece “A Little Tango Music” performed by the symphonic band was his favorite. He plans on attending other concerts, probably at JMU, for more professional music.
