Picasso and Monet, both well known artists, are found throughout HHS on banners. In the month of March, which is national art month, the artists paintings are hung for everyone to see.
Art teachers, Jauan Brooks and Kelley Shradley-Horst, made the decision to hang the educational banners. The school rents each set of artist’s paintings that were made into banners for a week at a time and change it over the weekend.
“Mrs. Shradley and I thought it would be interesting and we picked March because it is art month,” Brooks said.
The banners are solely for educational and illustrational purposes. Brooks and Shradley think the banners are beneficial to their students and the other kids in the school.
“[The banners] are for taking our students out. They are huge and looking at the images on the computer screen and projector can not be as good, so we can take at our kids on a mini field trip to learn about the painting in a new environment,” Brooks said.
Pablo Picasso was the week of March 15th-19th and Claude Monet is this week, March 22nd-26th. On the poster, there is a short paragraph giving information about Pablo Picasso life. Quotes are found on the banner, giving insight into Picasso’s thought and educating the students here at HHS.
“Truth, life, and nature provoked emotion in me,” Pablo Picasso said.
