Blog: Michigan was smart to become a right-to-work state

Michigan is now the 24th right-to-work state in the USA.
Michigan is now the 24th state in America that is right-to-work. Right-to-Work means you aren’t forced to be in a union to get a job. In Lansing, Michigan on the day of the vote in the legislature, members of all the unions in the state came out in force to protest the vote. To their dismay, both sides of the legislature is controlled by Republicans, as well as the governorship. Thus, all they could do was make their voice heard and try to intimidate elected officials with their numbers.

The average unemployment number in right-to-work states is lower than the average in non right to work states, also businesses are more likely to go to right-to-work states. This is because they don’t want to deal with unions who use their power to close businesses. Hostess, for example, is a company that the labor union has made go bankrupt. No private equity firm wants to deal with unions, so no one saved it. So, because of a union, the Twinkie is gone for good.

The protest was not peaceful. A union member, when ask why he opposed right-to-work, attacked the FNC contributor who asked him. Steven Crowder did not fight back, but got away from the situation. It was caught on tape, so now law enforcement is looking for the man. Before the fight, union members attack a tent by ripping it down when people were still in it. The tent was owned by Americans for Prosperity. They were using the same 1st Amendment right to freedom of speech to show support. An elderly woman was in the tent when it was being assaulted and when the tent collapsed the woman was still in it. Why would anyone do that to someone? Would you do that to your grandmother? No. So why would you do that to someone else’s grandmother?
