In early march the “Stop Kony” video was released by Invisible Children Inc. By March 9th it had at least 49 million views on YouTube and 14.4 million in Vimeo.

The video is centered around one boy, Jacob, and his struggle, along with thousands others, living in Uganda. They are guerrilla rebels that are trying to take over the country. They come and take over villages and kidnap the children. The captured boys are turned into child warriors, and the girls into prostitutes. The rebels make the kids kill their parents. The point of the documentary is to bring awareness to Kony, so we can shut him down.

One freshman, Krishna Goradia, said, “I saw the video and it was really sad, I think trying to stop Kony is a really good idea, everyone should get involved.”

On the night of April 20th supporters of “Stop Kony” will blanket towns and cities all over with posters of Kony, trying to accomplish more public awareness. You can also buy stickers, bracelets, etc. online at invisablechildren.com, that will help spread awareness. Goradia also said, “ I think the posters are a really good idea to try and stop him.”

The person who is in charge of this, Jason Russell, said that they have tried to get the government involved, he went to talk to legislators in Washington. All of them said that they don’t think that the US government could get involved because it doesn’t involve their economic problems. Russell says that the people can still do this on their own.
