Senior Mira Yoder has applied to two colleges, Goshen College and Eastern Menonnite University. Yoder has been accepted into both. Her top choice currently is to go to Goshen College in Indiana. She was interested in a lot of colleges, but these two she feels would be the best for her.

“I had a lot of colleges on my list but after visiting all of them, I realized those would be the two I’d fit in the most and I would enjoy going there, so that’s why I chose them,” Yoder said.

The application process was quite simple for Yoder. All she had to do was submit her SAT scores, then fill out some basic information.

“My [applications] were actually really easy. I had to submit my SAT scores and fill out basic information and I didn’t actually have to write an essay, but I did end up writing essays for scholarships for those colleges,” Yoder said.

Yoder plans on studying Computer Science or Environmental Science. Her high school career consisted of participating in both the Governor’s STEM Academy and TSA, which both gave her opportunities in these fields.

“I’m going to either study Computer Science or Environmental science. Computer Science because I really like working with computers and Environmental science because I really like being outside and there’s a lot to do with that,” Yoder said.

Yoder is excited to go off to college. She is ready to live independently and take interesting classes.

“[I’m excited to] take interesting classes, also just kinda getting to live independently and getting that experience,”  Yoder said.

Yoder leaves advice for students who are considering college in the future.

“Don’t always look for the colleges that are going to look great in the future, look for ones that you’ll actually fit into and like a lot,” Yoder said.
