Many people are very unorganized, and they don’t mind the mess because they know where everything is. For example, when your parents tell you to clean up your room and after you do you don’t know where everything is, it may not be so useful after all because it can end up hurting you more than helping you. Here are four reasons why being organized is a good thing overall, even if it can be annoying sometimes.

Being organized can increase your productivity. It will decrease your time looking for things and spend more time working on important tasks. It will take away that time of searching for what you are trying to do, and you will be able to use it for doing work. It can also create a designated study space to make it easier to get work done that stays clean and in order.

Organization can improve your communication. You will be able to get your point across more clearly if you have everything in order, and it will also greatly decrease your stress and anxiety. Multiple studies, such as one from NCBI, show that people who have more clutter and mess were more likely to be fatigued. If you know what you have to do and when you have to do it, it will decrease what you have to worry about.

Organization can improve your grades. If you are organized, it will help you with your time management skills, which will help you turn in all your assignments on time with no worry.

Being organized is an important life skill. Organization creates a more relaxing work environment where people will be more productive. It also can establish a sense of confidence and control of any situation.

Overall, if you are organized it can help you with a lot of different things. Being organized is a skill that will help you for your entire life, and high school is the perfect time to learn how to be organized. Setting these goals now rather than later is a great way to help you in the future and can give you a sense of achievement.  It can help you in school and with communication with your peers. To keep organized, using a planner is a great tool. It can help you write down everything you need to do and keep it all in one place. If you have a lot of homework, you can put it all down in a planner to make sure you remember everything. You can also use a To-Do list to keep your days organized and planned out. If keeping a planner and writing things down isn’t your thing, your phone also has great tools for organization with apps such as Notes, Calendar and Reminders. Lastly, staying simple is the best way to be organized, get rid of clutter that distracts you from the important things and focus on critical tasks. A little chaos never hurt anyone, but too much can be overwhelming so being organized is a key strategy to keeping your life together.
