Track to send runners to state meet after regional performance

The indoor track team competed at Fork Union Military Academy Feb. 13 in the 5A region D championships.

Sophomore Mia Constantin, junior Sarah Deloney, freshman Kate Kirwan and senior Hannah Miller started off the meet claiming 4th in the girls 4×800 meter relay, narrowly missing states. 

The boys 4×800 of junior Tucker McGrath, sophomore Hayden Kirwan, senior Alex Hulleman and sophomore David Beck claimed 3rd, advancing to states. 

Beck and Miller both qualified individually in the 1,000 and 1,600 meter runs. Miller claimed the gold medal in the 1,600.

Freshmen Abby Fornadel and Olivia King were 4th and 5th respectively in the girls pole vault. Senior Kyle Brown took 5th in the boys pole vault.
