Week 12 Power Rankings: Top three continue to win and playoff race shapens
The postseason is approaching fast. No byes remain, and in a year of many ups and downs, there isn’t a single team that is mathematically eliminated from postseason contention. Five weeks remain, and there have certainly been some shake-ups recently as teams have clumped around that coveted final wild card spot in both conferences.
TRENDING UP: The Cleveland Browns have had their share of struggles over the past few years to say the least, but they’re on the right path. They have their first two game win streak in way too long, and while their chance at the playoffs this year is extremely slim, it may not be out of the question for next year. After an 0-3 start, the Houston Texans still haven’t lost since. Eight straight wins is a huge accomplishment, and they’ve moved to the brink of a first-round bye in the AFC. The Seattle Seahawks picked up a crucial Week 12 victory to improve to 6-5, putting themselves in a perfect position to make a run at the postseason.
TRENDING DOWN: Well, three weeks ago the Carolina Panthers were 6-2. They’ve fallen off recently to say the least, and their loss to Seattle dropped them out of a playoff spot in the NFC. All season, the Green Bay Packers and their fans have been waiting for a turn-around. It’s not happening yet, and might not for the rest of the year. At 4-6-1, their playoff hopes are next to none, and Mike McCarthy’s time as head coach is running out. Just when you thought they couldn’t fall any further, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost in an ugly matchup against the Bills. At 3-8, the Jags have lost seven straight, and quarterback Blake Bortles has been benched. One year dynasty, anyone?
