Students of all ages get license

Learning to drive is an opportunity that many students take so they can get out on the road as soon as possible. Sophomore Corin Vogel, senior Douglas Carcamo and sophomore Gabrielle DelBiondo are three of the people who have gotten or are getting their licenses this year.

Corin Vogel got his unofficial license (temporary provisional license) on March 7. It took many months and legal steps to get to this point. He took Drivers Ed classes during the summer so he could get to driving as soon as possible and have room for other things in his schedule this year.

“[Driving is] great because you get to wake up a little bit later. You don’t have to deal with the bus and waiting out in the cold because you can go straight to your car,” Vogel said. On march 9 he drove to school for the first time, taking his younger sister freshman Robin Vogel to school as well. The first place he drove when he got his license was to the bus parking lot at HHS.

Senior Douglas Carcamo is also going through the process.

“First you’ve got to go to the DMV and take your learners permit [test]. They will give you a book and you have to study from it because they may ask you any type of questions from it. Then you go to the DMV and take the test,” Carcamo said.

“I’m excited because when you have a learners permit someone who has a license has to go with you but now since you have a license you can go [anywhere] anytime. Any place [you can go] by yourself,” Carcamo said.

“Its really simple to sign up for behind the wheel. You just go under the students tab online”DelBiondo said.

“I’m really excited because I’m going to be able to drive anywhere” DelBiondo said.
