Islamophobia?

Sako Haji, Staff Reporter

Islamophobia has been exemplified to the public eye, not all cases have been proven by studies, but it is simply obvious to the eye. A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder, in which one has a fear of an object or certain situation, in such they avoid whatever it is they’re in fear of. No one is sure as to what the logical reasoning is behind another human being fearful of another’s practice of religion. You do not see the phobia of Christians being factor of today’s world.

There is more to it than just being fearful of this religion, there is a base in which individuals are being racist against people of other countries. Unfortunately in the public eye, an average Muslim is one who has darker skin, wears a hijab, and usually of Middle Eastern descent. There is a lot more ignorance rather than open-minded facts and or thoughts coming out of the mouths of people who have something to say about these important topics.

Muslims are simply targeted for simply what they chose to follow. Their beliefs may be different than yours or the person sitting next to you, but they are still just like you. A person who follows Christianity is no better than one who follows Islam, or vice versa. People bring personal belief into everything, including where it is not wanted, which causes heat between the two. Explore, learn, and teach yourself, because ignorance is not a bliss.
