‘Here Comes The Boom’ was released to theaters on October 12, 2012. The story involves a rather lazy teacher trying to raise money for his school by entering the brutal sport of mixed martial arts. The film is a feel-good story, meant to be comedic and inspiring. However, this did not live up to my expectations.
When I saw the previews, I was hoping to be able to laugh throughout the movie. Instead, the movie mainly consisted of the main character, played by Kevin James, getting pummeled in the face for 75 percent of the movie. It felt like the plot was a little rushed, making the conclusion a little convenient.
However, I did find it entertaining at some points. The movie implements several humorous elements, but in my opinion, not enough. I did like how they used real MMA fighters to make it more realistic, but I wasn’t too thrilled since I’m not fond of wrestling. It was slightly touching, but like my previous statement, not enough for me to call it a great movie.
Overall, the movie needed more work before it released.
