App of the Week: Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird is both surprisingly simple and addictive.

Flappy Bird is one of the most frustrating games ever to become popular. It requires supreme finger tapping skill. Even though I pull my hair out trying to beat my record of four, I can’t stop playing it.

Flappy Bird is a game that is designed for anyone to play, but actually requires some skill and a lot of luck. The game is played by tapping on a flapping bird who cannot stay up in the air unless you tap it. The premise of the game is simple, you’re supposed to help the bird avoid green, Mario-esque tubes or else it will die. Your score is based on how many tubes you get through.

Although the game sounds relatively easy it really isn’t. Most people struggle to get even a three. The game is infamous for how hard and addicting it is and is number one in the free apps section of the app store. The famous game has even spawned its own Twitter, @FlappyBirdProbs.

I waste a substantial amount of time playing, so I would recommend it for people who want to pass the time. I only warn that you will experience frustration.
