Friebe-Makinto, Slaubaugh earn All-Valley District honors for 2025 football season

Despite an 0-10 season for the Blue Streaks, senior Joel Friebe-Makinto and junior Nathan Slaubaugh earned All-Valley District honors for their individual performances this season. Friebe-Makinto earned first-team defense as starting Linebacker, and second-team offense as leading running back. Slaubaugh was awarded second-team offense as all-purpose utility player.

Assistant football coach, Malik White describes how Friebe-Makinto, and Slaubaugh stood out for the Blue Streaks this season.

“Joel and Nathan were by far our two best players this season, and other teams and coaches could not deny the ability and hard work that both players put in every Friday night,” White said.

Friebe-Makinto was also named to the all-district team last year. Friebe-Makinto feels accomplished earning the honor for the second year in a row.

“I feel accomplished, I won the award last year as well but this year I also got it for offense, so it feels great to win the award for both sides,” Friebe-Makinto said.

Slaubaugh won his very first All-District award this season. He put in work on and off the field and is proud to be named to this award.

“It feels pretty cool, a lot of work was put in to win this, so it really is an honor to see my hard work come full circle,” Slaubaugh said.

White joined the Blue Streaks coaching staff last year for the 2024 season and has seen the development of both players.

“It has been a pleasure to see such quick growth from these young men from mindset development to physical attributes, these guys have made some big changes amongst themselves in a very short amount of time,” White said.
