The JV football team went head-to-head against Page County on Sept. 18. One of the biggest plays that happened during the game was an interception from sophomore Abram Wenger.
“My highlight was my interception,” Wenger said. “Coach was pretty happy about that. We got the ball back. I felt really good about it.”
While not everyone makes an interception, the players don’t just show up to play the game, they show up for the people they play with.
“I find it kind of hard to show up every day, but I like the community. It’s fun,” Sophomore Jason Sendejas said.
Sophomore Yusuf Bakebuga is very happy with how the team is learning together.
“My favorite thing is that we’re all learning. Most of us have never played football before, and this is like our first time playing. So this is like a good experience for us to learn the game,” Bakebuga said.
Along with learning the game, players get to know others on and off the field. Freshman Luca Hulsey enjoys being around the team.
“I like there’s a sense of belonging to it. It’s not just all about football. It’s a lot more than just a game, because you practice together, you play together,” Hulsey said.
