The Homecoming rally took place on Friday, November 8. Students like Tyler Christian found themselves called down to participate in the games.
“[My favorite part was] probably the tug of war, mainly because it was, you know, I was picked for 12th grade. We lost, but it was fun,” Christian said.
He and his fellow 12th graders battled it out against the freshmen in a bout of tug of war.
“I kind of like to let the younger kids learn to make them feel better about themselves,” Christian said.
Christian finds joy in letting those younger than him win in competitions, believing it to build their confidence.
Unlike Tyler, some students prefer to enjoy the pep rally from the sidelines, or even the band pit.
“I really do enjoy [band]. It is something that, like, I signed up for, and I feel like, you know, just playing my instrument and just being out there is really fun,” Saige Shiganakov said.
Saige enjoys attending pep rallies with the HHS Band that they have been a part of for three years.
“[A new game should be] Trivia or, like, a Jeopardy theme style? I feel like that would be very interesting to see,” Shiganakov stated.
Shiganakov thinks that there is not enough balance in the games at the pep rallies, and thinks that there should be a mix for the brainy and the brawny.
