Holli Wolter, an English teacher at HHS, has views on the recent election and voting. She believes the voting age should stay at 18.
“I think that people over 18 would have a better understanding of the world,” said Wolter. “If they raise it higher, not many people can express their opinions.”
In her upbringing, her parents influenced the way she thought.
“I always listened to what they were saying when I was younger until I was old enough to make my own decisions,” said Wolter.
She thinks the economy is a key issue in this year’s election.
“I think the biggest issue most citizens in America face is the economy,” said Wolter. “I think there are people that are struggling, and there needs to be something to lower prices.”
Her empathy for others reflects a mindset of voters who are hoping for a brighter future for all citizens of this country. She believes in the importance of voting to help the future of this country.
“I think it’s important because it’s a way for people to become involved with the government,” said Wolter. “If you don’t vote, you won’t have a voice.”
Advocating for all who can vote highlights the democratic process that all citizens have a right to participate in to help decide the future for themselves, their families, and friends.
