Robotics is an afterschool club in which students of HHS, build robots and code them for competition. Every year students meet in Room 174 every monday to build their robot and every year they adapt and grow with the new game.
This year Luke Rhodes Showalter is back in robotics for his second year. Rhodes is in 10th grade and is growing his skills in engineering robotics.
“We split up into teams, and we work together, putting stuff together, and we try to build a robot that we can take to competitions. [We] drive it around, do all sorts of unique stuff with it, and compete and try to win,” Rhodes said.
With all the meetings students are split into teams which they will compete with near the end of the season. Throughout the robotics season the teams work hard to assemble, code and learn how to operate the robot in the competition.
Along with building and planning the robot the team members organize and work together to find the most efficient way of playing the game and how they can adapt their robot to those needs.
