
On March 13, the Harrisonburg High School symphonic and concert bands traveled to Broadway High School to be scored at the VBODA (Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association) concert band festival. They played in front of a live audience and a panel of three expert musicians. Then they went into the Broadway music room to sight read a piece for another judge.
The whole purpose is to get professional opinions and make the bands better.
“It helps us learn more about ourselves as an ensemble,” band director
J.R. Snow said.
“We did pretty good all around”, Sophomore Jordan Bushong said. The symphonic band achieved a superior rating and the concert band earned an excellent.
