Vito’s Italian Kitchen is an Italian restaurant off Port Republic Road in Harrisonburg, across from the new JMU intramural soccer fields. Though I did not have the chance to try more than their pizza, I would be happy to go back and try more.
The meal started with a side of bread sticks dipped in butter and oil. The pizza was stupendous. I had a thin crust eight inch pizza with red sauce, sausage and, of course, cheese. The crust was cooked to perfection, crispy but not burned or under cooked.
The service I received was exceptional. They were polite and always made sure that they got the order right and that everything was good. They also were not one of those restaurants where the staff always bugs you when you’re trying to eat. The ambiance was nice and calming, yet still alive and peppy. They had pictures and other objects on the walls that brightened up the room so that it wasn’t dull and grey.
My only complaint was that the restaurant felt a bit cramped. It could have been that the restaurant was crowded that day or just me, but it felt like a closed space.
All in all, Vito’s kitchen was exceptional and I would recommend it to anyone who has not eaten there.
