Freshman Kaedon Howley is running on the outdoor track distance team this year. He has been running for a long time, but this is his first year running for the high school.

“I am pretty excited about this season,” Howley said. “I enjoy running the[one] mile and two mile.”

Howley has been running for a long time. Not only does he run for the school’s team, but he also runs on his own.

“ I enjoy running track because I have been running since I was a little kid. My dad is a runner and I run with him,” Howley said.

Not only does Howley run for outdoor track, but he also did cross country and indoor track.

“ I did cross country this year and I really enjoyed it,” Howley said. “I have improved my running. During cross country I didn’t really start that well, but I practiced a lot and made varsity.”

After Howley completed his cross country season he joined the indoor track team and ran the[one] mile and two mile during the whole season. Currently he has started training and exercising for the new outdoor track season.

“ For practice we will go on long runs, we will do track workouts, and sometimes we will go into the weight room,” Howley said. “ During the track workouts our coach will give us a certain distance he wants to run and a time he wants us to run in that distance.”

Outdoor track takes time and training, and that is just what Howley is doing. He stays after school everyday when there is practice and he drives to be a better runner.

“ The toughest parts of our workouts are when we have a lot of sets for that one workout,” Howley said. “But then I really enjoy finishing track workouts, not only because I finish it, but because I feel like I have actually done something.”

Since Howley has been a part of multiple running teams he has had time to set goals so that one day he will achieve them and set a new goal.

“ My main goal for this season is to get a five minute and ten second mile, or under that,” Howley said. “ So far my best mile is five minutes and 23 seconds, so hopefully I will meet my goal eventually.”

Not only does Howley do track, but he also enjoys the people he is around when he runs.

“The track environment is nice. It does feel competitive though, because there are a lot more people than my cross country team,” Howley said. “ However, I do not know necessarily how I am with everyone, but I think I am up there.”

Howley has done a lot of running over the past seasons and he hopes to continue to run since he has always enjoyed it.

“I will most likely keep running through high school. I really enjoyed cross country and outdoor track so far, but I did not like indoor as much,” Howley said.
