Listening to Christmas music is the best way to get in the holiday spirit
November 5, 2021
Now that the spooky season and fall festivities have come to an end, it’s time for the holiday season to be in the well deserved spotlight. Some people like to get into the holiday spirit by decorating their homes immediately after Halloween. Others begin listening to Christmas music. I personally think decorating after Halloween is a bit excessive, but listening to holiday music should be more than acceptable.
Most people think that holiday music should only be played after Thanksgiving. Some radio stations start playing Christmas music immediately after Halloween. I’m the type of person who likes to listen to Christmas music as soon as the last trick-or-treater comes to the door. It seems right to listen to it directly after Halloween, since even during Thanksgiving, people are in the holiday spirit. Overall, some people love listening to Christmas music, others despise it. My parents and sister think it’s too early for me to be blasting Christmas music in my room, but I personally disagree.
When it comes to decorating for the holidays before Thanksgiving, I think that’s a bit strange. No offense to the people who decorate immediately after Halloween comes to a close, I just think there should be a bit more time to enjoy the beauty of the fall season. Don’t get me wrong, I love both fall and holiday decorations, but there’s a point where both are up for too long and get tiring to look at. Having a break between the seasons is ideal for me. I always grew up decorating after Thanksgiving, so that’s what I’m used to. There has never been a time that my family has decorated before Thanksgiving.
However, sometimes Christmas music can be really overplayed, so I tend to only listen to it from November to the end of December. I’ve had the same Christmas music playlist for years and have never gotten tired of it since I don’t listen to it throughout the entire year. The playlist just sits at the end of my Spotify feeling lonely until it comes time for it to be played again. There are many classics on my playlist that I could never get tired of, such as ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. If you’re like me and enjoy getting ready for the holidays before Thanksgiving, the best way to do so is listening to the holiday music, not full on decorating and annoying your neighbors.
