There are many sports offered at HHS every year, including baseball, wrestling, golf or football. HHS offers almost every extracurricular sport, but there is one sport missing that a lot of people would enjoy: lacrosse. Lacrosse is a sport that almost none of the schools in this area offer, which should change. Lacrosse is a fun, enjoyable sport that involves a lot of work, but anyone can learn how to play.

Just like many sports that are offered here, lacrosse is a sport that involves a ball. You use a stick with a net on the end to catch and throw the ball and run with it across the field. This requires a lot of endurance and teamwork. This is a really good sport for someone who loves playing soccer or football, another reason HHS should offer it. When football is over, students who enjoyed it could play this similar sport. Plus, it would keep the football players in shape in the spring while they are waiting for the fall for football season to start.

However, you don’t have to have played football to play this sport. Lacrosse is for anyone willing to put in the effort to learn. In addition, this sport is not for one gender in particular; boys or girls can play. There are different rules for boys and girls, however. For instance, boys are allowed to body check, which means that when running towards the ball or trying to catch it, they can shove someone with their body to get them out of the way. This is another reason why football players at this school would enjoy it; they would get to play similarly to how they do in football. Girls are not allowed to body check; however, girls are allowed to stick check, which is just as it sounds. It means taking your stick and hitting your opponents stick out of the way. 

Lacrosse is a sport that should be offered not only at HHS, but at schools all across Virginia. It is a great team building activity and is something that you can enjoy especially if you like playing other ball sports.
