Top five things to do when bored during quarantine

Edit by Mia Constantin

This shows a compilation of all of the activities suggested in the article.

When you’re not completing online school assignments, time spent at home can seem to become quite slow and boring. These are my top five ideas on how to pass time and have a good time.

     1. Watch a Netflix show

Recently Netflix has released new seasons of popular tv series such as All American or On My Block. Even rewatching classic shows such as The Office or Friends can by time. Something my friends and I have started doing is using “Netflix Party”, a program that allows you to chat with your friends while you’re all watching the same show at once. This is a good way to hang out with your friends without actually being together.

    2. Exercise at home

There are countless at home exercise tutorials all over different platforms that most are already accessing. Offering a wide range of variety of exercises and their difficulty. Most don’t even require any sort of equipment. It’s never too early to start working on your summer body. My personal favorite is the Alexis Ren Ten Minute Ab Workout

     3. Rearrange your room

Considering my bedroom is where I spend most of my time nowadays, why not change it up a little? Even if it’s just moving your bed to the other side of the room, it can leave such a refreshing and new feel. Use Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube for inspiration.

      4. Set a schedule for yourself

This is probably the most important to me, although lounging around all day is nice, it can become quite a lazy habit. Implementing a schedule or some sort of structure for yourself can make you feel productive and that you have a purpose for everyday. Even if it’s just a desired time to do your schoolwork, it’s a way to keep yourself in check. Using a calendar, planner, or even the reminder app can really help with this.

      5. Look into new hobbies

With all this time on our hands and spring activities and sports canceled, it’s the perfect time to explore new hobbies you’re interested in. You can try cooking, playing video games if you really didn’t before, or even crafting. It’s nice to try more engaging unique acts to spice up your life. Something I have found interesting is making videos with all of the memories I have captured from my past year.

So there you go, my top five ideas for something to do when stuck at home. It can get hard not having a set schedule, but as long as you put effort into changing your new daily routine, it won’t be as bad.
