Waffle House is an overall better restaurant than IHOP, ignoring the fact that someone was shot in one of the old (no longer) Waffle Houses in Harrisonburg. Although they are both chains, Waffle House offers a more intimate feel, and a better experience than the International House of Pancakes.
Waffle House is a smaller building which makes you feel like you’re getting more personalized service, whereas at IHOP the place is so big and loud you feel like you’re at an obnoxious chain restaurant without quality… which you are! Waffle House also provides you with a colorful array of characters in regards to service, and you get the opportunity to watch your food as it’s prepared. It’s like a Japanese steakhouse! But not.
Waffle House has a good sized menu with plenty of choices and great tasting food. It’s best feature? Easily the juke box found in a corner of each restaurant. You’ll find a variety of well-known songs, both old and knew, from which to play. Half the fun of dining at Waffle House is being able to pick songs you and your table mates love, and reminiscing over the memories they bring to mind, all the while enjoying a wonderful meal with good service.
IHOP has no originality. It’s just another pancake chain with annoyed waiters and waitresses walking around a huge room that’s pulsing with sound. Who wants that?
Next time you’re in the mood for breakfast for dinner or a late night snack, instead of hitting up IHOP, stop by Waffle House and see what’s so great!
