Weston Reynolds did not plan on having the job position he is in currently as Senior Associate at Greycroft, but after being in the technology field for a while he found the career he believes is fit for him.

“I have always been interested in technology. The combination of working to solve challenging problems in the context of technology with really smart interesting people always appealed to me,” Reynolds said. “I didn’t know this was a job when I was your age but through the culmination of a lot of years of reading and exploring I stumbled into this opportunity and I really enjoyed it.”

After college Reynolds moved to New York City where he began to immerse himself in the technology community.

“While I was doing consulting I started doing work on the side with different tech startups. One of which was Oscar Health which is a big well-known startup healthcare company. I started to build a network between the tech community here in New York and finally ending joining a venture capital firm called Greycroft where I currently work and have worked for almost three and a half years now,” Reynolds said. “What we do is invest in early-stage technology start-ups and we help them try to grow into big and successful companies. One of our most notable successes is Venmo which is a peer-to-peer technician payment space.”

Reynolds believes the best part of his job is the diversity in his work.

“I really like my job because no two days are the same,” Reynolds said. “The most interesting elements are I get to talk to really interesting people who are very passionate about big role changing ideas every day.”

During his childhood, Reynolds has traveled to many different places. He believes this has rubbed off on the person he is today.

“I was lucky to grow up in a family that valued ideas and experiences more so than materials and things. We spent a lot of time as a family when I was young traveling and doing things together,” Reynolds said. “The diversity of the experiences that I had when I was young I think influenced who I am today and what I like to do today. I love to travel. I also very much value my family and my friends and a lot of that is growing up in a family that loved spending time together and liked each other.”

Reynolds has been many different places for his education, jobs, and for fun. He believes some of the places he has been have influenced who he is today.

“I was in Barcelona earlier this year and I was also in Sicily on the same trip and was very impressed. I love Cape Town South Africa, I spent two weeks there in college and was really blown away and by Tanzania on that same trip. I grew up spending a lot of time in Wyoming specifically in the Tetons which is a mountain range in the western part of the state and that place is very much a part of who I am today.”

Reynolds love for traveling plays into his professional life as well.

“I travel a lot both for work and for fun. We have an office in Los Angeles and a lot of companies around the U.S. I travel to those places to visit our existing portfolio companies and companies we might invest in. I also travel a lot for fun because I enjoy it. It is a great way to spend time and money and experience the world and broaden your horizons.”
