HHS provided the annual Flu Vaccine for its staff members
November 23, 2015
Every year, HHS provides the annual flu vaccine to the faculty. Staff members met at the library on November 12, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to get their shot. The flu vaccine is paid for through the staff’s insurance and the fact that it is held in school encourages staff members to be vaccinated. Librarian Bradley Walton explains that faculty members should consider taking the flu shot because of the public setting they are constantly working in.
“The school system does this for the convenience of the faculty members. It encourages them to get a flu vaccination,” Walton said.
There are two types of flu vaccines. One is an injection and the other is a nasal spray. Both methods were provided for the faculty members. The injection contains the killed virus while the spray contains the weakened virus.
“Saying that the vaccine is provided here at the school rather than making them go out and get the vaccine reliefs some of the responsibility on the staff,” Walton said.
. This opportunity allows the option for teachers and administrators to get the shot in the convenience of their work place.
