Q/A with coach, winners of cross-country meet

Carrie Yoder, Staff Reporter

Tricia Comfort is one of the coaches of the High School cross country team

Q: How did you think you did today so far with the girls race?

A: I’m really happy with how the girls did. We’ve been battling some injuries and things like that over the past couple of weeks so I’m really proud of them and how they performed today. They did a good job.

Q: How do you think the guys will do?

A: I think that they’re going to do real well also. For that area we’ve been really really strong. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do.

Q: Were there any particular challenges so far?

A: This is a somewhat challenging course. It’s kind of spread out so that makes coaching a little difficult. It has a lot of rolling ups and downs which makes it hard for the runners, but I think our training has prepared us for that so it gave us a little advantage.

Q: How has this meet compared to other meets?

A: It’s a smaller meet. So since it’s only local schools it’s small. Like the meet we went to this weekend was bigger schools so it was harder competition for us.

Q: What were you most excited about for this meet?

A: It’s fun to race the local schools because we’re not in the same conference as them anymore, we don’t see them in the season so anytime we can race area schools it’s always fun to see these people.

Abrham Amine finished first overall for guys.

Q: How does it feel to finish first for HHS guys?

A: It feels pretty good.

Q: What was the hardest part of this course?

A: It really wasn’t hard, it’s a nice day, it’s cool, it’s not hot.

Q: How did this meet compare to any of the others?

A: So far, this has been the best.

Hannah Miller finished overall for girls.

Q: How does it feel to finish first for HHS girls?

A: Good, now that I have cookies.

Q: What was the hardest part of this course?

A: I would say the end, because I had her [Hannah’s Cousin] so close. So I was scared the whole time, like I’ve gotta keep going, even though it hurts.

Q: How did this meet compare to any of the others?

A: It was the first time I’ve beaten my cousin, so that was fun.

27 out of 36 runners ran lifetime personal records.
